Ear Update

Mason is well on his way to being ear putty free! Today he had surgery to remove the remaining tube in his left ear. The doctor said his right ear looks good and he removed the stubborn tube in his left ear and put a small paper patch over the hole. We go back in a month to see if the patch has fallen off and the hole has at least begun to heal. If the patch is still in place we'll go back in another month for another check.
Mason was so good while we were there this morning. We had to be there at 7:45 and the surgery wasn't scheduled to start until 8:45. He sat quietly (well, relatively quietly) and kept asking when it would be his turn to see "the mask." All the people around us kept going back with the nurses and he wanted his turn. When the anesthesiologist came to get him he was so glad to FINALLY get to go see that mask everyone kept telling him about. The Dr. went into the dictation room and Mason followed her without missing a beat. She turned around and said, "oh, do you want to come with me?" Well, yes of course! So I watched through the little window in the door as the dr. talked and Mason watched and listened. When they emerged she was laughing. He had said "good bye!" to the dictation lady when the doctor was finished. Then they were off down the hall to get that pesky tube removed. The nurse commented as we headed back to the waiting room, "Gosh, we usually don't get kids excited to go with the doctor, he was so good!" Yep, only Mase.
When he was finished we went back to see him and he was pretty groggy. He asked for something to drink and then wolfed down a package of animal crackers. Shortly thereafter we were on our way back home. Since we've been home he's pretty much back to normal Mason....you know.....chasing his sister, dancing, and watching SpongeBob and Dora.
I'm glad everything went well and hope his ear heals quickly!

Glad all went well. My buddy is tough. Mase is just like his mommy. Doctors never bothered her (and she saw enough of them)! Doctor things this week myself. Hopefully I can get out to see my babies early next week. I Love you all so much!!
